Van Zanten family with thick upper arms
Granddaughter, father Kees, grandfather Gerrit, great-grandfather Cornelis all have big fat upper arms. In nature, this makes sense for fighting. The warriors, the fighters. The character of this person is that they feel easily attacked and mostly speak in defense. We see in this Van Zanten family that father Kees had to struggle at birth, 4 pounds, incubator, born one month premature and mother who was sick for first year of life. Kees was cared for by auntie in another house for the first year of his life. He has to fight for his life. Grandfather Gerrit fought in Indonesia, the terrible war in the forest where bullets flew around his ears. Gerrit returns and is humiliated by the Dutch people, as if he were a criminal. He goes to work hard, working two jobs to support his family. Gerrit does not talk about the violent events in Indonesia “no one understands me” he says. Great-grandfather Cornelis had to survive in harsh conditions and a hard worker as a servant. Gerrit worked day and night and fought for his existence. Son Kees gets a daughter; in the teenage years she develops big fat upper arms. Her mother had to fight to get her. Fighting every day to protect the child from Kees’s temper. Kees fights about anything and everything, it doesn’t matter what, as long as there is a fight. Mother ducks out, making sure their daughter doesn’t cry, crying infuriates Kees. A frenetic existence of survival. Eventually Kees becomes too aggressive, mother and daughter have to flee. Daughter experiences much aggressiveness from father. She decides to stop the contact and create peace in her life, this succeeds and she gets big fat upper arms. More muscle tissue than before in the recovery phase. Her upper arms tell a family story.
